“This is the moment you’ve all been waiting for!”
It’s been a long time coming but Jon Jones finally defends his UFC light-heavyweight title against Rashad Evans this weekend. I don’t really like Jones, but it’s always a pleasure to guys that are right at the peak of their sport. Opinion seems to be that Rashad is the guy with the best chance of beating Jones. This might be true, but having the best chance still doesn’t mean you’ve got a good chance and I expect Jones to finish Evans within the distance.
For those of you that don’t follow the UFC, Rashad Evans was due a title shot vs ‘Shogun’ Rua about a year ago, but 6 weeks before the bout he got injured and his team-mate Jon Jones got the fight instead. Jones, at the age of 23, absolutely dominated the legendary Shogun. After the fight, despite previously saying that he wouldn’t fight his team-mates, Jones declared that he would take on Evans, starting what has been a year of bad-blood between the two. Injuries and scheduling problems kept delaying the fight (while in the meantime Jones has run through 2 other former champions), but we’re finally going to get to see it on Saturday night.
Also on the card is young Brit Che Mills taking a huge step up in competition to take on fellow rising star Rory MacDonald at welterweight. I would love to see our guy cause a big upset in that fight.
Yesterday was almost exactly break-even on the tables. I was actually down for most of the day, until two hands late into a session I played in the evening helped me out…..
First one was just a standard flip but it was a pretty sweet way of winning it against a player that regularly runs his mouth off at the tables. I would have preferred the two aces on the flop then to hit my tens on the turn and river, but I’ll take it!

For those of you that aren’t used to reading hands in this format, I’m going to put up a short guide on how to read the hands, and also how to understand some of the technical jargon I use when I’m talking about strategy decisions.
Finally for this post, I’ve still not sorted out my problems with the speed of the site. It seems to me that my hosting provider is overloading their servers, and when the US comes online in the morning (around 4pm UK time), the traffic is just too much for them to cope with and the site becomes almost unusable. They’re telling me that’s not the case and I’m being promised a solution today…. we’ll see…..
